Commissioning Manager - Physical AI
Company Description
Headquartered in Montreal, Detroit and Munich, Vention helps manufacturers automate their operations in record time with the only hardware and software AI-powered platform built for the factory floor. Our technology powers over 25,000 machines across 4,000 factories across 5 continents and we have the privilege to work with a significant proportion of Fortune 500 manufacturers, from space rockets, to electrical cars, to robotics.
At Vention, you’ll work alongside driven and talented people who care deeply about their craft and the impact they create. We’re a team of high achievers who grow through meaningful work, solving complex challenges, learning fast, and seeing the results of our efforts every day.
We move quickly and aim high, but we do it together with care, collaboration, and respect. Our culture celebrates diverse perspectives and supports your growth through intentional development, strong leadership, and opportunities to make a real difference.
What You’ll Do
This is not a traditional engineering role. You are a Physical AI authority embedded in the project
commissioning team - technically deep enough to develop vision and robotic applications optimizing
robot paths, grippers, and integration, experienced enough in automation project management to deal
will strategic accounts, and credible enough to collaborate and influence the Vention product
organization on making the technology even more compelling.
With your team, you will lead the design, test and commissioning of the Physical AI technologies as
subcomponents to large Vention Automation projects and directly to customers.
What you will do
Manage a team of delivery engineers and technicians to support their technical, professional and interpersonal growth
Serve as the applicative knowledge center on Vention’s Physical AI capabilities — Rapid Operator AI, GRIIPTM, MachineMotion AI, sensor-to-action policies, and the full-stack platform as it applies to unstructured manufacturing tasks
Work cross functionally from Customers to Physical AI Engineering to execute the design, programming and commissioning sold projects
Lead in-house client feasibility assessments conducted pre-sales on robotics test cells
Work with and through other commissioning departments (Palletizing, EOL, Custom machines) to successfully deploy the Physical AI technologies
Complete evaluations including technical assessments, business reviews, and yearly performance reviews to ensure team members are meeting objectives and targets.
Build and maintain a Physical AI execution playbook — specifications, BOM and test plans
Act as the voice of the field back to Product, Product Marketing, and Engineering — translating technology pitfalls and improvement opportunities.
What You Bring to the Table
Bachelor degree in Controls or robotics engineering — with experience in vision driven robotic applications
8+ years of experience in robotics and vision industrial applications
Strong business acumen and knowledge of project management methodologies
Strong ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client, project and technical issues
Proven track record of team leadership and a willingness to coach & train others
Exceptional client communication skills and a customer first mentality
Bilingual (English and French), both spoken and written
